Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts which is concerned with human health and disease processes. Treatment emphasizes joint manipulation (known in chiropractic as an adjustment) but includes other manual medicine procedures including physical modalities, acupuncture, orthotics, lifestyle modification, exercise and other rehabilitation programs. Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-surgical science and as such, does not include pharmaceuticals or incisive surgery. Chiropractors will refer patients for medical care where appropriate.
